Explore Lake George
Meeting up in beautiful Albany, it's hard not to get the impression that our adventure isn't already underway. Here, we'll meet up with our fantastic trip leaders and the rest of our 6th grade group before journeying to the pristine shores of Lake Gorge. Known as the Queen Of American Lakes, Lake George is the perfect place to start our adventure. Over the first few days, we'll enjoy entroductory bikes rides along the pleasant shores, take refreshing, afternoon swims in the tranquil water and grow together as a team while learning basic camping skills and taking an introductory hike to the top of Black Mountain for inspiring views of the Adirondacks. Raft the Hudson River Gorge
From Lake George, we'll head to the famous Hudson River Gorge for some exciting introductory whitewater rafting. Under careful instruction of local guides, we'll have a fun day developing team skills as we navigate the class II and III rapids of this exciting river. Of course, we'll enjoy the ample opportunities to take refreshing swims in the calm waters between rapids. Experience the Wonders of Adirondack Park
Enjoy an authentic, overnight hike to the top of 4,098-foot Cascade Mountain, one of the renowned high peaks. Hiking as a group and then camping overnight on this inspiring and obtainable mountain, we'll quickly develop a taste for the magic of backpacking through the wilderness. In addition to developing basic backcountry skills, we'll also learn about the history of the unique combinations of lands protected as Adirondack Park. Discover Lake Placid
Visit the home of the 1932 and 1980 winter Olympic Games before we embark on an overnight canoe voyage onto the pristine waters of Lake Placid. We'll camp overnight on the lake's scenic shores, enjoying a crackling fire, hearty backcountry meals and the chance to enjoy a thick blanket of stars, unfettered by artificial light. During our days on the water, we'll experience breathtaking views of the surrounding Adirondack Mountains. Explore Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains
Crossing the state border into the Green Mountain State, we'll bicycle the shores of Vermont's famous Lake Champlain. We'll hike-to and swim in the hidden waterfalls of the Green Mountains, which form the literal backbone of the state and house the famous Long Trail, one of America's first long distance hiking trails. Building on our paddling experience, we'll kayak the calm waters of the Battenkill river, taking in the beauty of this area from our safe and stable kayaks. As our adventure in the great Northeast draws to a close, we'll enjoy our traditional end of summer banquet before departing the next morning.
