Cycle the Oregon Coast
Following our arrival in Portland, we’ll be shuttled to the pristine Oregon coastline where the Columbia River meets the sea.. Our first days will cover gear checks and orientation, readying ourselves for our 28-day journey. Our cycling tour heads south along the Pacific Coast, rolling along the ruggedly beautiful coastlines of Oregon. We’ll take brief rest stops at famous historical sites and view picturesque lighthouses, quaint fishing villages and artistic centers. Near Florence, Oregon, we’ll hike towering sand dunes and explore the famous sea lion caves. At each night’s campsite we could see whales, sea lions, otters and harbor seals playing in the thundering surf. Surf the Oregon Coast
Giving our cycling-legs a break, we'll relax along the Pacific Ocean and enjoy two days of introductory surfing instruction. The waves here are perfect for beginnings and, with careful guidance from expert instructors, we'll have you standing on your board in no time. Bike the California Coast
After crossing the California border, we’ll cruise through magnificent Sequoia stands in Redwood National Park, tour the spectacular Mendocino Coast and conclude our journey by rounding Point Reyes Peninsula and crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. This will truly be one of the most exciting moments in our lives. Explore San Francisco
Our Pacific Coast bicycle expedition concludes with a day of exploration in San Francisco and our traditional end-of-summer banquet celebration. Strolling around this vibrant cultural capital, we'll visit iconographic sites like Fisherman's Wharf and enjoy a ride on a famous cable car before enjoying our final meal together at a local restaurant, and then boarding our flights home the next morning.
Important Notes: All bicycles and touring panniers are provided on this moderately challenging tour, open to experienced cyclists and to athletic beginners. Daily mileage varies from 20-50 miles per day over mostly flat to rolling terrain.
