Explore the Marin Headlands
After being met at the San Francisco Airport we’ll travel across the Golden Gate to the dramatic Marin Headlands and the Point Reyes Peninsula. Our first two days will be spent getting to know each other as we hike through the giant Muir Woods Redwoods and around the wildlife filled estuaries and bays of beautiful Point Reyes.Raft the Trinity River and Explore the North Coast
A short trip north takes us into California’s wild coastal region. First we’ll paddle fun and exciting whitewater on the beautiful Trinity River followed by camping under a blanket of shimmering stars. We’re then off to Redwoods National Park and the surrounding coastal beaches where we’ll hike, beach comb, and explore the Avenue of the Giants.Experience the Wonders of Yosemite
Next we’ll travel into the High Sierras and spectacular Yosemite National Park. Our time spent in Yosemite will include a fun overnight hike to an alpine lake, surrounded by snowfields. We’ll raft the fun American River, explore Yosemite Valley, discover giant Sequoias, and see magnificent views of Half Dome and El Capitan.Explore and Sea Kayak Monterey Bay
From the High Sierras, we’ll move down to fabulous Monterey Bay, a coastal paradise of natural beauty, teeming with sea life. We’ll learn about the coastal environment at the world famous Monterey Aquarium then spend a fun day paddling in two-person sea kayaks to view seals, sea lions and otters.Surf Half Moon Bay
Our trip to the coast wouldn’t be complete without an opportunity to learn how to surf the gentle breaks of nearby Half Moon Bay. This is a perfect spot for beginners who wish to learn a new skill or to just relax and have fun on the beach.Visit San Francisco
We’ll conclude our amazing California Exploration with a day to ride a cable car, visit Fisherman’s Wharf, walk through China Town and explore fascinating Alcatraz Island. Our final night’s banquet near the Golden Gate Bridge provides the perfect conclusion to a fun exploration of the “Golden State”.
Introductory Adventure Designed for 6th Graders: We’ve been adventuring in California for twelve years and know lots of amazing places where we can provide unique and unforgettable experiences.
Please Note: Our 39 years of experience adventuring with young adults is without equal. All activities, their duration and intensity, are designed for adventurous 6th graders. Equipment needs are minimal. We use three and four person tents, segregated by gender. Showers are available almost every day. Most meals are prepared in our campsites but restaurant meals will also be provided on selected days.
