Trek through spectacular environments of glaciers and high peaks along Europe's most famous mountain ranges. Discover the lush canyons and waterfalls of the Spanish Pyrenees. Explore the culture and flavor of both Barcelona and Paris. Sea Kayak the emerald waters of the south Spanish coast.
Hike the Pyrenees
After meeting in Barcelona we will travel west to the Parc Nacional d'Aiguestortes where we'll begin our journey along the Pyrenees range. We will average 8 to 10 miles a day as we travel through Aragon and Catalonia on our journey over high passes and around dramatic peaks in this lightly traveled countryside. Our route will take us through small mountain villages where we will have opportunities to brush up on our Spanish and experience the cultural life of a shepherd, a stark contrast to the fast-moving world as we know it. We will be spending our nights camping or in traditional mountain huts, which will afford us the luxury of a home-cooked meal, a comfortable bed, and conversation with other trekkers from around the world.Whitewater Raft and Inflatable Kayak the Noguera Pallaresa River
Following our trek in the Pyrenees, we'll spend 2 days rafting and inflatable kayaking the whitewater of the swift-flowing Noguera Pallaresa River through a dramatic canyon high in the Pyrenees.Explore Barcelona and Sea Kayak the Costa Brava
At the conclusion of our whitewater trip, we will be transported to Barcelona where we'll spend the day exploring this fascinating and cultural city. Then, we'll travel north for 3 days of sea kayaking along the spectacular cliffs of this Spanish coastline. We will sleep each evening on secluded white sandy beaches, surrounded by the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea.Trek in the French and Swiss Alps
A short flight from Barcelona takes us to Chamonix and the Alps. With Europe's highest peak, Mount Blanc, towering above us at 15,863 feet, we'll journey into this spectacular environment of glaciers and high peaks. Our 6-day trek offers scenery beyond belief, the comforts of Swiss Alpine Club huts at night, and a glimpse of the hiking and climbing culture of the Alps.Explore Paris
After a short train ride, we'll arrive for 3 days of relaxation and exploration in one of Europe's most famous cities, Paris. From our small hotel a few blocks from the Seine River, we'll visit many historic sights, including Versailles, the River Seine, the Louvre, and Notre Dame Cathedral. We will conclude our Southern European Adventure with our traditional banquette in Paris before our flights home the following morning.
