First day nerves...
Well, today was the first day of our trip. I was really nervous getting off the plane because I didn't know anyone, but right away I fit into the group. There are 6 girls and 7 boys, and while everyone's ridden a bike before, no one has done any serious mountain biking - yet! As soon as we left the airport we got to check out our bikes. They look awesome! Our leaders seem really fun too, and they have biked everywhere, so I'm sure they'll be able to teach us a ton. Tomorrow we hit the trails right away. It's so beautiful out here, I can't believe I get to spend two weeks riding my bike in such an amazing place!Life on a Raft...
Today we took a break from biking for a rafting trip. It was so exciting! I've never whitewater rafted before, but our guides made it seem really easy. It was so hot outside, but the water felt awesome. We had about a hundred water fights, got to swim through a few rapids without our boats, and paddled some class III and IV rapids. I didn't think I'd want to stop biking, but now I'm not sure if I want to stop rafting!
-ThomasMoab musings...
Moab is the coolest place we've been yet! Everything is so dramatic here- the giant red cliffs, the bright blue sky, I love it! This is the coolest place! I didn't think that in just a week and a half I could have learned as much as I have, but riding everyday in these amazing places has really made it easy. Today we're going to ride all morning and then check out some sweet swimming holes near our campground. Every night I'm so exhausted, but it's the best feeling! I can't believe there are only a few days left- I wish I could stay longer!
