Explore the most amazing wilderness in the lower 48 states. Backpack through the magnificent Wind River Range, sea kayak through the geologic wonder that is Yellowstone, raft the wild Snake River, backpack along the Continental Divide in the Teton Wilderness and climb the 13,771-foot Grand Teton.

Backpack The Wind River Range

Upon our arrival in Jackson Hole, we’ll acclimatize, learn about our equipment, and get to know the members of our group. Then, we’ll be off to either the Bridger or Fitzpatrick Wilderness to begin the initial leg of our Grand Teton Adventure. These wilderness areas in the Wind River Range are marked by granite spires, sculpted ridges and forested valleys that have long been recognized for an abundance of wildlife including moose, elk, deer, mountain goats, and black bears. We’ll backpack this scenic high country, traveling in the footsteps of early fur trappers. A variety of wilderness travel skills, like backcountry navigation, weather readiness, and food management, will prepare us for the rest of our adventure.

Sea Kayak Yellowstone's Wilderness

There is no better way to experience the magic of Yellowstone National Park than from a sea kayak. We’ll paddle Shoshone and Lewis Lakes, camp on sandy beaches, and savor an environment only Yellowstone can offer. We’ll travel past colorful, flower-filled meadows, waterfalls, hot thermal springs and steaming geysers, and should watch for moose, elk, bald eagles, white pelicans, and possibly bears. In this wonderful setting there will be time to relax or swim, and, for those who choose, fish for elusive rainbow trout.

Backpack the Continental Divide

Moving either to the beautiful Teton Wilderness or the amazing Washakie Wilderness, we will backpack a vast mountain landscape of high peaks, lakes, and waterfalls along the Continental Divide. This scenic high country journey improves our backcountry skills while preparing us for our exciting climb of the Grand Teton in the days to come.

Climb the Grand Teton

The world-famous Exum School of Mountaineering offers us the necessary skills to scale the spires of the Teton Range. Our 2-day instructional program covers knots, signals and belaying, rappelling, and additional safety-related techniques. Advancing according to ability and desire, we’ll then embark on our challenging 2-day climb of the Grand Teton. Words fail at the rush of emotion and sense of accomplishment attained by cresting the 13,771-foot summit, one of America’s most renowned peaks. Since 1977 over 2,300 young adults have climbed the Grand Teton with us. That’s 10 times more than all other teenage programs combined.

Whitewater Raft The Snake River

Our expedition will conclude with an exciting day of whitewater rafting through the Grand Canyon of the Snake River, home to numerous boiling and foaming rapids. That evening, we’ll enjoy a farewell banquet before departing the next morning.

All the major components of this trip have been offered by us over the past 39 years.
