Days 1-2
Flying into Jackson Hole airport, it’s difficult not to get the feeling that an adventure is already underway. Landing at the foot of the Teton Range, you’ll deboard and be promptly greeted by your trip leaders. Following, you’ll meet your fellow venturers who are sure to be mirroring your overwhelming excitement. Once everybody has gathered, it’ll only be a short distance traveled to reach our first campsite in Grand Teton National Park, just ten minutes away. There, we’ll set up camp for the first time, enjoy our first self-prepared meal, and generally hang out and get to know each other for the evening. The next day, we’ll move on to making all the necessary preparations for our upcoming ventures!Days 3-7
Today marks our departure into the rustic Teton backcountry! Easily one of the most remote areas in the lower forty-eight states, we’ll be sharing this magnificent land with bald eagles, elk, and other local wildlife. We’ll start our hike traveling shorter distances at first; allowing ourselves to acclimatize to the elevation, as well as give us time to learn the necessary backcountry travel skills needed for the rest of our trip. Trekking through thriving alpine meadows overflowing with wildflowers we’ll learn skills such as backcountry cooking, minimum impact camping, as well as map and compass skills. Finally, after our first venture is through, we’ll head to the more civilized location of Jackson for showers and laundry.Days 8-10
Moving the group north into Yellowstone National Park, we’ll begin our discovery of its high altitude wilderness lakes. Exploring remote areas, privileged only to those with the access to boats, we’ll also learn the basics of sea kayaking as we paddle across these placid pools. At night, we’ll set up an exclusive campsite on the secluded sandy shores, learn about the natural phenomenons that make this region so incredibly unique, and enjoy our company around a long awaited fire. After paddling out of the wilderness, we will once again return to Jackson for some needed showers, laundry and preparations for our next quest!Days 11-16
Following our kayaking voyage through Yellowstone’s alpine lakes, we’ll then get ready to set out into the vast Wind River Range for our second backpacking excursion! Home to the highest peak in the state of Wyoming, this massive saw-toothed range will be our wilderness home for the next five days. As we continue to hike, we’ll be consistently gaining altitude until we are well above the tree line. Traveling across rising alpine passes we’ll discover high mountain lakes in which we can camp and cast for trout, all the while impressed by the endless views our elevation has offered us. Continuing to broaden our backcountry travel experience we’ll also be moving camp each night to a new and picturesque location. Finally, after we exit the rugged wilderness, we’ll once again make a stop in Jackson for showers and laundry.Days 17-20
And now for our Grand ascent! Our first two days of this leg will be spent learning climbing skills from the best instructors around, the Exum Mountain Guides. While class is in session, we’ll learn the techniques and teamwork required to successfully summit such a peak. The first day of our ascent will be spent making our way to our campsite at the lower saddle; an incredibly beautiful place to camp we’ll enjoy a sunset vantage point across the range that few people have the privilege to see. After spending the night on the saddle we’ll rise early to attack the 13,771 foot spire! As we start our climb you’ll feel encouraged to press on as the rising sun warms your back, and by mid-morning you’ll be on top of the world! And as you bask in your incredible achievement, any obstacle you had overcome to get there will seem insignificant in comparison as you stand on the summit. After we’ve all enjoyed our time on the peak, we’ll make our way back down to the valley and then into Jackson for showers, laundry, and a well-deserved post-climb feast!Days 21-22
After our incredible victory over the Grand Teton, we’ll take to the rapids for our final day of fun. A premier spot for rafting, the Snake River delivers exhilarating class III rapids and a perfect way to tie up the end of our trip. That night, we’ll gather for a magnificent feast at our final group banquet. One last time to laugh and relive all of our fantastic adventures, for the following morning it is time to bid farewell. And although it’s always hard to say goodbye, at least you’ll never have to let go of your wonderful memories and all of the new friends you’ve made.
