From the world-renowned, blue-ribbon waters of the Snake, Madison, and Yellowstone Rivers, to the sparkling alpine lakes of the Beartooth Mountains, this marvelous adventure combines great backpacking with an opportunity to become a skilled fly fisher in a setting without comparison.

Learn to Fly Fish in Jackson Hole Country

Upon our arrival in the Wild West town of Jackson Hole, situated at the base of the Teton Range, we'll spend our first 3 days learning the fundamentals of fly fishing. Working with our own professional fly fishing instructors, we'll learn about entomology, casting techniques, knot tying, water reading, fly fishing ethics, and trout conservation.

Hike and Fish the Yellowstone Backcountry

We will then travel a few miles north to Yellowstone National Park to backpack through some of the most fabulous trout waters in the world. In this exciting environment, we'll cast for Cutthroat, Brown and Rainbow trout, as well as Arctic Grayling, while trekking through the backcountry. Numerous quiet streams and a jumble of lakes offer great fishing opportunities.

Whitewater Raft the Yellowstone River

We will take a break from fishing for a fun afternoon of rafting the exciting Class III rapids of the famous Yellowstone River.

Hike and Fish the Beartooth High Country

Few words can describe the amazing Beartooth Wilderness that adjoins Yellowstone's northern boundary. As part of this incredible ecosystem, the Beartooths hold hundreds of high altitude lakes set against an alpine scene of snowcapped peaks, flower-carpeted meadows and deep blue skies. This wilderness is a fisherman's paradise with numerous destination choices; a lake is always in view. We will hone our backcountry skills here, and learn low-impact camping techniques while enjoying one another's company at each night's campsite.

Float, Fish, and Raft the Snake River

We will begin our final day with a morning of drift boat fishing (2 per boat) and conclude with a thrilling afternoon of whitewater rafting down the Grand Canyon of the Snake River. Then we'll celebrate our adventures together at our evening farewell banquet.

All the major components of this trip have been offered by us over the past 37 years.
