Learning the cast...
Today was awesome! After driving over Teton pass, we went to the Teton River in Idaho to meet our Orvis fishing guides. We learned all about fly rods and how to cast. It was pretty tricky at first, but I got the hang of it. After dinner, you could actually see the fish rising on the surface of the river. It was so cool. We went fishing and Andrew caught two trout. While we were fishing, we watched the sun set over the Grand Teton. It was the most amazing sunset that I have ever seen.

Yellowstone is incredible! On the drive up yesterday, we saw bison and an elk. I’ve never seen so much wildlife. Today was our first backpacking trip up Pebble Creek. It was tough at first going up hill, but the trail leveled out and wasn’t bad at all. We hiked through meadows that were filled with wildflowers. When we got to camp, everyone immediately headed upstream into a meadow to go fishing. I actually caught four trout! I couldn’t believe it. The colors on them were so beautiful. I hope the rest of the fishing is this good.

The Beartooth Mountains might be my favorite place in the world. I love being above tree line. We definitely don’t have anything like these mountains back home. There is still snow in some places, and it’s July! The lakes are amazing too. I have never caught so many fish. I will definitely come back here another time.

Today we went whitewater rafting on the Snake River in Jackson. It was the coolest experience! We were all laughing and screaming as we flew through the rapids. Absolutely everyone in our group had a great last day. This only makes me feel like I want this summer to never end. I hope I can come back to WV next summer!
