Hike Looking Glass Falls and Sliding Rock

After meeting our trip leaders in Charlotte we head quickly to the cooler temps of the Blue Ridge and the Pisgah National Forest. From our base camp, we’ll get to know each other as we hike to beautiful Looking Glass Falls and then explore Sliding Rock, a natural water slide. On our first day together, we’ll organize into teams and learn how to comfortably carry everything we need on our first adventure, an overnight backpack.

Backpack Pisgah National Forest

Our first hike into the Blue Ridge will take us through beautiful fern laden forests and along cool and refreshing mountain streams. You’ll quickly learn the basics of backcountry living and you’ll love your newly discovered world away from your hectic high tech life at home. Each day brings new fun and discoveries, like hidden waterfalls and swimming holes. You’ll learn how to select that perfect campsite, or how to navigate with a compass. At our campsite each evening you will be amazed at how delicious the food is you just prepared on our lightweight stoves, and how much fun your new friends are to be with.

Inflatable Kayak the Nantahala River

Just a short distance from our backpacking trip, we’ll enjoy a fun day navigating the class II and III rapids of the Nantahala River at the famous Nantahala Outdoor Center. This beautiful Wild and Scenic river is considered one of the finest in the Southeast and is a perfect introduction to whitewater.

Experience a Ropes Course in Nantahala National Forest

Following our whitewater kayak trip we’ll learn basic rock climbing skills with the Nantahala Outdoor Center. You’ll have a lot of fun and gain self confidence as you challenge your self on their Alpine Tower, where you learn to rappel and belay.

Whitewater Raft the Chattooga River

Our next adventure is back on the water as we paddle class II and III rapids along the border of Georgia and South Carolina. You’ll be amazed at how much fun it is to run a world class river, amidst such beautiful scenery and there isn’t anything more refreshing than bounding into the deep and invigorating pools along our way.

Whitewater Raft the Ocoee River

Having warmed up on the Nantahala and Chattooga, our final whitewater experience is packed with fun and adrenalin filled excitement on the class III and IV rapids, at the site of the 1996 Olympics.

Climb Mt. Mitchell

Following our fun whitewater trip, we’ll conclude our adventure with an amazing hike to the summit of Mount Mitchell, at 6,684 feet. Our previous hikes and backpacking trip will have prepared us for this culminating summit climb to the highest point east of the Mississippi. We’ll rise at dawn from our campsite high in the Blue Ridge then celebrate our accomplishment with spectacular views of North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Mountains. We’ll conclude our adventure with a tasty celebration dinner in Asheville before we depart home from Charlotte.
