Natural History Adventures

These Adventures combine exciting adventure travel with meaningful scientific studies and explorations.

MASON HARNEY

North Potomac, Maryland

Trips as a Student: Cascade Olympic, Hawaii, Jackson Hole

"Wilderness Ventures really helped me find out who I am in ways I couldn't have imagined. Wether sea kayaking in the Puget Sound, backpacking on the beaches of Hawaii or learning to rock climb in the mountains around Jackson Hole, I gained a newfound respect for wild lands and learned that I could have fun in new environments."

About these adventures

Our Natural History Adventures explore some of our Planet’s most
spectacular, unique and diverse ecosystems. With two Wilderness
Ventures leader/naturalists together with local biologists,
scientists, and ecologists we will receive a “hands on” experience,
covering such topics as global warming, wildlife habitat studies,
geology, and ecology of each area traveled through. Each program
provides opportunities for us to engage in meaningful scientific
projects. While gaining perspective to these areas we also have fun
on a variety of day hikes, sea kayak, and rafting trips. Occasional
overnight backpacking, sea kayaking or rafting excursions provide us
with close-up and one of a kind exposure to these spectacular and
beautiful environments which we could not experience by any other means.

why these adventures are unique

Since the inception of Wilderness Ventures in 1973, environmental
studies and natural history have been strong components of every trip.
Our 37-year history conducting outdoor adventures in these areas
provides us with unmatched knowledge, experience and resources in
order to provide the finest natural history programs possible for our
students.
