Our Last Best Places

The places where we are licensed to operate in the United States clearly seperates Wilderness Ventures from all other teen adventure programs and enables us to conduct far superior experiences with much less travel between destinations. No other program for young people can match either the variety or the grandeur of the special areas our trips are conducted in each summer.

When we established Wilderness Ventures in 1973, we sought operating licenses in the most spectacular and beautiful national parks and national forest wilderness areas in America, and fortunately, permits to these places were still available at that time. Every year since then, our teen adventure programs have had the opportunity to experience amazing country not available to other programs.

Our permits are truly special, and with the privilege of being able to take teens to these wonderful places, we also recognize our tremendous responsibility to see that these areas remain preserved and protected for future generations. Our expedition groups learn to respect these wonderful teen adventure program destinations and are taught how to enjoy them without leaving an impact or trace of their visits to them.

It is with sheer gratitude, pride and joy that we are able to share with young people these magnificent Last Best Places as we like to call them. We have listed each area, its size in acres, and the year it was formally protected by the United States Congress.

Teen Adventure Programs and Teen Adventure Program Permits held by Wilderness Ventures

As the worldwide leader in teen adventure programs and teen summer programming, Wilderness Ventures holds permits to over 40 protected federal lands and wilderness areas -- "Our Last Best Places" as we've come to think of them on our teen adventure programs. We know that our teen adventure programs are tremendously fortunate to have access to these beautiful teen adventure program destinations. Part of the goals on all of our teen adventure programs is exposing teens to an outdoor setting in ways that will allow teens to learn to live and have fun in the outdoors; in short, our teen adventure programs are about making positive associations with wild lands.

One of the ways that our teen adventure programs give teens a positive introduction to the outdoors is by bringing them in to the most beautiful teen adventure program destinations imaginable. Most teen adventure programs, due to their limited permitting situation, cannot offer this sort of high quality experience. Our exclusive teen adventure program permits on, for example, Yellowstone Lake and in Grand Teton National Park, give our teens unprecidented access to the best teen adventure program destinations on the planet. Call 800-533-2281 to learn about our teen adventure programs or to ask for our teen adventure program catalog.
