Help restore a traditional ceremonial sweat lodge and volunteer at an elementary Navajo Immersion School near Shiprock. Earn 60 hours of community service while learning about "the Hopi Way" and visiting picturesque pueblos perched on high mesas. Explore and hike in the multi-hued Monument Valley and the Painted Desert. Volunteer on a working Navajo farm in enchanting Canyon de Chelly and conclude by whitewater rafting on the Rio Grande River.

Navajo Reservation Community Service

Our introduction to the Southwest begins at Albuquerque's Pueblo Cultural Center where we learn about the customs and history of the Native Americans who inhabit the region. The next day, we're off to Fort Defiance, near famous Shiprock, where we'll volunteer
at a local elementary Navajo immersion school, help restore a traditional ceremonial sweat lodge, assist a local medicine woman, or help renovate the house of a Navajo "Code Talker."

Discover the Hopi Pueblos

Taking a break from our service work, we'll visit the nearby Hopi pueblos perched high on colorful mesas. Here life goes on much like it did hundreds of years before.

Hike Monument Valley and Zion National Park

Next we'll have an opportunity to explore on foot some of the colorful sites the Southwest is known for and where countless films were made. We'll explore the Painted Desert, travel through famous Monument Valley, hike among ancient Anasazi ruins and trek through the slot canyons of Zion National Park.

Canyon de Chelly Community Service

Neither words nor pictures can describe the beauty of this soon-to-be national park. As guests of the Navajo, we'll be transported into the canyon where we'll volunteer on a working farm. While assisting the Navajo, we'll learn about their customs, visit ceremonial hogans, and explore the ancient Anasazi cliff dwellings towering directly above us.

Whitewater Raft the Rio Grande River

We conclude our Southwest Service Adventure with a day of exciting whitewater rafting on the scenic Rio Grande River which runs just north of Santa Fe.

Explore Historic Santa Fe

Santa Fe provides a perfect setting for our final afternoon and evening in the "Land of Enchantment." We'll visit many historic sights, then celebrate our accomplishments with a wonderful New Mexican dinner.
