Sustainable Travel

As our teen adventure program has become more global, we have expanded our mission by teaching sustainable travel and the importance of supporting local communities and economies through our low-impact travel on foot, by small boats, and in small groups.

OUR ALUMNI

Our 20,000 alumni since 1973 have been our greatest contribution to the environment. They have all experienced our planet’s fragility and beauty and have had instilled in them a strong environmental awareness and ethical foundation to conduct their lives responsibly. We are constantly rewarded for our efforts as we hear from our former teen summer campers each year. Many of them are now making major contributions towards the betterment of our planet through their lives’ work. You can see our impact on the planet in National Geographic’s series on global warming, “Strange Days on Planet Earth,” narrated by actor, environmental advocate, and former Wilderness Ventures student Edward Norton.

ZERO-IMPACT ETHICS

From our beginning in 1973, we have been committed to teaching young people about the joys of living in the out of doors without the luxuries we all take for granted. While the spectacular outdoor ecosystems we have visited have been wonderful classrooms, we have always been sensitive toward our potential environmental impact to them and the need to leave these special places better than we found them. We began teaching zero-impact camping ethics years before the concept became the standard for all outdoor schools and we are proud of that legacy.

Our Green Catalog

We believe that breadth and depth of our programs can be best shared in print form. Every year, we print a substantive, beautiful catalog with soy ink on recycled paper through an FSC company. To request a copy of our eco-friendly catalog, please call 800-533-2281.

Teen Summer Camps by Wilderness Ventures.

Since 1973, Wilderness Ventures has been offering the most amazing teen summer camps and teen summer adventures in the US and Abroad. Conservation and sustainable teen summer camps have always been an important part of our teen programs' mission and goals. To make the most of the beautiful environments that our teen summer programs visit, we place a high emphasis on sustainable teen summer camping. All of our teen summer camps practice low impact and leave no trace teen summer camping and teen summer travel practices.

Many of our teen service adventures contribute environmentally to make a positive ecological impact on the teen summer camping locations that they visit. Our service teen summer camps in the Yellowstone area build teen summer camping trails in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. In Alaska, our teen summer camps build trails for teen summer camp adventurers in the Mount Ripinski area. With all of our teen summer camps, whether they are adventure-oriented teen summer camps or service-oriented teen service programs, we place a strong emphasis on environmental and social stewardship. Call Wilderness Ventures today to learn about our exciting, substantive and sustainable teen summer camps.
