 Explore Yellowstone's Backcountry
After arriving in scenic Jackson Hole, we're off for an amazing trek through the backcountry of wildlife rich Yellowstone National Park -- "The American Serengeti." Our trek through wildflower meadows, past clear lakes, snowy peaks and geyser basins, provides a backdrop without equal in the Rocky Mountains.
Climb the Grand Teton
The world-famous Exum School of Mountaineering offers us the necessary skills to scale the Teton spires. Our two-day instructional program covers knots, signals and belaying, rappelling and additional safety-related techniques. Advancing according to ability and desire, we'll then embark on our challenging two-day climb of the Grand Teton. Words fail at the rush of emotion and sense of accomplishment attained by cresting the 13,771-foot summit, one of America's most renowned peaks. Since 1977 over 2,300 young adults have climbed the Grand Teton with us. That's ten times more than all other teenage programs combined. Whitewater Raft and Inflatable Kayak Oregon's Deschutes River
On this amazing river, we'll learn whitewater rafting and inflatable-kayaking skills on one of the finest three-day stretches of rapids in North America. This famous river combines quiet, clear pools with loads of Class II and IV whitewater and sandy beaches for campsites. Backpack the Three Sisters Wilderness
Adjacent to the Deschutes River, Oregon's snowcapped Three Sisters Wilderness offers some of the finest backcountry in the Northwest. Our route along the Pacific Crest Trail takes us through flower-filled meadows, past waterfalls and lakes with the dramatic snow-clad mountains towering above us. Hike the Olympic Beaches
A short distance north takes us to Olympic National Park and one of the last wilderness coastlines in North America. We'll camp on Olympic Beach, nestled against rugged cliffs and witness an amazing variety of wildlife, such as deer, seals, Bald Eagles, Starfish, otters and possibly whales. Sea Kayak the San Juan Islands
A short ferry ride takes us to the San Juan Islands, where we'll se kayak for four days in safe and stable two-person boats. In this placid ocean environment, we'll travel to uninhabited islands, and share our evenings with seals and Orca whales. Trek the North Cascades
Often referred to as "The American Alps," this beautiful mountain range in North Cascades National Park offers some of the finest alpine scenery to be found anywhere in North America, with towering peaks, wildflowers beyond belief and numerous alpine lakes. This trip will help us prepare for our culminating ascent of lofty Mount Rainier.
Climb Mount Rainier
Early indians called it "Tahoma" or "The Mountain That is God." Little wonder. At 14,411 feet, Mt. Rainier is the highest and most beautiful volcano in the northwest. Following a one-day class in the fundamentals of snow climbing, by world-class mountaineers, we'll embark on our exciting two-day climb. Day one finds us at Camp Muir at 10,000 feet. Day two begins under the glow of headlamps as we rope together with our guides, secure our crampons and begin the final and most spectacular leg of our journey. Few words can describe the sunrise at 12,000 feet or the amazing views from Canada to California as we summit above the clouds. Ths could be the most memorable experience of your life! Since 1974, over 2,400 young adults have climbed with us on Mount Rainier, ten times more students than all other teenage programs combined. Following our successful climb, we return to Seattle for our end-of-trip banquet and flights home.
