TESTIMONIAL
I have made many life-long friends and have been fortunate enough to see some of the most beautiful areas of the country. I congratulate you for starting such a wonderful program that means so much to teens like me.

Locust Valley, New York

Our Costa Rican exploration is an exciting combination of diverse wilderness travel and stimulating cultural immersion in an unspoiled tropical paradise. From sea kayaking, to rafting jungle rivers, to hiking amidst exotic birds and wildlife in lofty cloud forests, this 21-day exploration not only offers high adventure but the cross-cultural education of a lifetime.

Introduction to Spanish Language

Our introduction to Costa Rica begins with an orientation and a fun day of informal Spanish language instruction in San Jose. Here, we’ll begin to adjust to the “Pura Vida” and “Tico Time” before we move on to the Osa Peninsula.

Sea Kayak the Golfo Dulce

With an abundance of scarlet macaws, colorful toucans, howler monkeys, sea turtles and dolphins, there is no better place to see wildlife than on the pristine Osa Peninsula and the adjoining Golfo Dulce and Corcovado National Park. We’ll spend our first 3 days paddling the Gulf and camping on pristine sandy beaches under a star-lit sky.

Hike Corcovado National Park

Next we’ll be off for 3 days of exploring the jungle, where we’ll be amazed by the lush forest canopy and amazing wildlife it supports. Then, we’ll rappel down cascading waterfalls for a different perspective of the jungle ecosystem.

Explore the Savegre Cloud Forest

From the tropical jungle, we’ll move high into the cool cloud forest where we’ll explore pristine waterfalls amidst spectacular mountain scenery filled with colorful parrots.

Assist Sevegre Villagers

In the Sevegre, we’ll visit a local community where we’ll spend a day assisting one of our service groups with a meaningful and needed project. That evening, we’ll dine with the local villagers where we’ll gain further insight into their life.

Surf the Nicoya Peninsula

Moving back to the Pacific Coast, we’ll spend 3 days learning to surf the gentle breaks along the sunny Nicoya Peninsula and, at the same time, help with a much needed environmental project. For 3 days our local surf instructors will teach us the basics of paddling, standing up on the board and riding these famous warm-water waves.

Help Preserve Sea Turtles

From our surfing base camp, there will be plenty to do each evening as we assist with a sea turtle conservation project to help preserve the endangered sea turtles. Our 3-day project will involve nighttime beach patrols where we’ll record our sightings and assist with turtle nest protection and learn about sea turtle ecology.

Whitewater Raft the Pacuare River

Next we’ll head to the Pacuare River where we’ll spend 2 days rafting world-class whitewater. Hearts racing, we’ll negotiate Class III and IV rapids on one of the world’s finest tropical whitewater rivers. From our campsite along this pristine river, we’ll be afforded an opportunity to soar through the jungle canopy on one of the largest ziplines in Costa Rica. Few words can describe the feeling of being so close to the world of monkeys, toucans, and other colorful tropical birds. Our 3-week journey concludes with our traditional tropical feast in San Jose before our departures home.

For students completing 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grades, grouped according to age.
